To the courageous souls who come to the rescue of those in need,
and keep the beaches clean and safe for others to enjoy, we salute you. 
Back in the 60's, the beach patrol were policemen on horseback, who
were not friendly to us, and tried to stop us from surfing there.

But times have changed,
and now the beach patrol is looked up to and trusted knowing that they will come to help anyone in trouble.
The appreciation and respect for these lifeguards has grown every year under the leadership of Sean
Scallan, their team leader. His nick-name "The Ambassador" was given to him by his teammates.

This year we honor Sean and his team,
for keeping our beach clean and safe to enjoy and to surf our beloved Kellys Cove.
